5 Must-Have Gadgets for Digital Nomads Under $25
So, you’re thinking of becoming a digital nomad?
According to the Harvard Business Review, this non-traditional work style has increased by 49% since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. With employees no longer tied to their offices, many have decided to create a true work/life balance and have set out to explore the world. A lifestyle once dominated by the self-employed, has seen a significant rise by employees with traditional jobs.
I started this journey in 2019, pre-pandemic. Many folks were curious and others thought I was nuts when I told them I would be traveling the world and working online. To think that just a year later, many would follow suit. Who’s crazy now?
Vital to every digital nomad are their devices and electronics. Without them, they would not be able to work, communicate, or get around with such ease. To get you started, I’ve put together a list of budget-friendly, tried-and-true items that you’ll need for your journey.

Must-Have Gadgets Under $25
1. Headphones
Noise cancelling headphones are essential when working on the road. They will come in handy when it’s challenging to concentrate during busy hours at the cozy café or fabulous outside bistro. The mute button comes in handy when you have a meeting or for the educators teaching online. They’re perfect for tuning-in or tuning-out.
I also like a good wire headphone for everyday. Call me old school, I’m okay with that. These work well for all occasions and I prefer them over the complimentary ones provided on the plane for in-flight entertainment (they personally bother my ears…LOL).
2. Portable Phone Charger
You don’t ever want to run out of juice, especially, during inopportune times. I’ve been there and it isn’t fun. Nor is it always feasible to carry around a wall charger, since outlets aren’t always available. I’ve also been there. This power bank makes sure that you’re always connected.
We all can agree that mobile phones are a necessity and not a luxury these days, therefore, keeping them charged and available is vital.
3. Universal Travel Adapter
When it comes to must-have products for international travel, there are few items that are more important than a universal travel adapter. Having one that is compact and can safely and conveniently charge your devices is what you need.
This adapter includes five different inputs that accepts plugs from more than 150 countries and features two usb charging ports.
4. Power Strip
Having a safe and reliable power strip prevents the stress of having to look for more than one outlet when you need it. As a digital nomad there’s never only one device, so having one is handy.
Pro Tip: For international travel, plug it to your universal travel adapter and power/charge more than one device at a time without needing to worry about outlet compatibility.
5. Selfie Stick/Tripod
Believe it or not, this is a recent purchase for me and one that I needed. As a solo traveler, our camera roll is typically occupied with selfies or images of everything else, but rarely full body shots. Why? Because it’s hard to find folks that will take your photo (and well).
This selfie stick/tripod combo conveniently comes with a blue tooth remote control so you’re able to take selfies from multiple angles and extend it as a tripod for photos and videos without having to walk over to set up your takes. This compact and lightweight combo is perfect for travel.
I hope this list has helped you save time and money when searching for your gadgets. Which purchase are you most excited about?
