Coquito Christmas.jpg

It’s that time of year! The time for all of the delicious seasonal foods and beverages. As a Latina, I look forward to the holidays because we know how to GET DOWN in the kitchen and have staples that are not to be missed.

As the title suggests, I’m starting with a coquito recipe from PUERTO RICO! Coquito is a coconut-based drink that originated in Puerto Rico and traditionally made and served at Christmas. It’s often compared to eggnog, and I can see how when explaining it to someone who isn’t familiar, can be a go-to comparison. However, let’s be clear, it’s not the same! It contains different ingredients, even down to the alcohol choice. This recipe in particular has NO EGG. Personally, I prefer coquito.

Quick, easy, delicious and spiked, what’s not to love? Now, if you prefer a non-alcoholic recipe, that’s easy! Exclude the alcohol and keep all other ingredients and their measurements the same. Let’s get started.
