Journaling While Traveling.jpg

Journaling is the art of putting pen to paper and allowing your thoughts to flow: with or without interruption. It provides the opportunity to release what you have in your mind and the energy associated with it. It is considered a form of self-care and a way of improving mental health.

Journaling while traveling allows you to do all of the above and more. It is also another way to document one’s experiences apart from photos and videos.

How To Journal While Traveling?

1. Journal by writing in your own voice. Describe your experiences in detail: what you see, how you feel, how things smell, how food tastes. Express yourself in an unedited, authentic way.

2. Grab your journal when you need to vent or schedule your sessions. For example, writing in the morning allows you to set your intentions for the day. While writing at night gives you the opportunity to release your thoughts so you’re not mulling over them in bed. It’s also a chance to reflect.

3. Pick a spot that makes you feel comfortable. Writing in bed may be your thing or it can be that you can only write at a desk or table. Choose a place that allows you to write in peace. You can also carry your journal with you to write when it moves you.

Journaling Supplies

1. A journal or notebook that isn’t too bulky. One that is comfortable to travel with. I believe in traveling as light as possible, therefore, sticking to journals that don’t take up much space and are not too heavy are ideal.

Also, try choosing a journal that is aesthetically pleasing. I find that if my journal is beautiful, I’m more excited to write. Especially, because I like to keep my journals.

2. A journal or notebook with a cover is a good option to ensure it stays intact.

3. A comfortable writing pen. One that glides with ease so you don’t have any difficulties while telling your story. I prefer practical pens with bold ballpoints in either black or blue ink.

4. A highlighter is essential to point out specific thoughts, moments, and adventures. Utilizing colorful markers makes it fun.

5. A bookmark is a necessity. It’s frustrating to have to look for your place and you want to avoid skipping any pages. Having a bookmark to let you know where you last left off in your journal is handy.

Bookmarks that are easy to locate, have inspirational sayings, and are aesthetically pleasing are my go-to.

What To Do When Your Journal Is Full?

Save it!

All you’ll have one day are memories so you want to make sure to cherish them. With your journal, you’ll get to read back on your life experiences, see how far you’ve come, and how much you’ve grown. Keeping your journal also gives you a chance to share your journey with your loved ones as well as relive it, yourself.

Happy, journaling!
